Renault has prepared a joyful Twingo to celebrate its sponsorship of THE COLOR RUN 5k events.

Based on the Twingo Play, the new limited-run model comes with some extra goodies to justify its special edition status. Renault’s cutesy city car gets an electric panoramic sunroof, bespoke floor mats, 15-inch “Exception” alloys, and a bunch of Exterior Touch and Interior Style packages to spice things up even further. That’s on top of the model’s standard equipment which among others includes electric front windows, daytime running lights, DAB digital radio, along with AUX & USB connectivity.

Although it does not have a built-in navigation system, the car does come with the R&GO app which will effectively transform any compatible smartphone into an infotainment system with support for navigation. You can have the car in any of the Twingo’s regular shades, including the fresh Ultraviolet paint which can be combined with a bunch of decals for extra personalization.

Power of the Twingo THE COLOR RUN is provided exclusively by a naturally-aspirated 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine with 70 horsepower (52 kilowatts). It’s very cheap to run, as combined fuel economy stands at an impressive 47.1 mpg US (56.6 mpg UK or 4.9 liters / 100 km) with corresponding CO2 emissions of just 112 g/km. If 70 hp sounds a bit too weak, you’ll have to wait for the recently revealed 110-hp Twingo GT due to go on sale later this year.

Renault mentions the new Twingo special edition brings customer savings of £800 compared to the regular Play version fitted with the same optional kit. It’s already available on order and carries a starting price of £10,495.

Regarding Renault’s involvement in THE COLOR RUN, the French automaker is sponsoring the Yellow Color Zone of the UK series. “The Happiest 5k on the Planet” as it’s known will kick off on Sunday in London at Wembley Park and will continue on July 2 by the event in Manchester, followed by Glasgow (July 17), Birmingham (August 20), London (September 4), and Brighton (September 17).

Renault is going the extra mile to celebrate its sponsorship of THE COLOR RUN, the Happiest 5k on the Planet, with the launch of a commemorative special edition Twingo city car.

The French car manufacturer is sponsoring the Yellow Color Zone of the UK series of THE COLOR RUN global events, where thousands of runners start the course in a white T-shirt and are covered in a rainbow of colours throughout the course.

Taking place at the heart of five nationwide cities that span Brighton to Glasgow and kicking off in London at Wembley Park on 12 June, THE COLOR RUN is all about having fun with friends and family and enjoying a truly colourful experience. The events are untimed and participants are invited to complete the course however they wish, be it running, walking, skipping, dancing or even cartwheeling!

For 2016, THE COLOR RUN is bringing the theme of an island holiday to each venue with its Tropicolor Tour, transforming the locations into bustling hives of fun, music and colour. The famous ‘Color Throws’ will welcome participants across the line in a frenzy of colour and the fun will continue at the Finish Festival with entertainment from a mix of DJs and MCs.
