Making the transition from a dashcam to an external camera, the recording gear masterfully did its job to capture all the action.

Earlier this month during the 2016 Podbrdská Rally Legend event in Czech Republic, Martin Kdér behind the wheel of a Skoda 130 LR was involved in a rollover crash. These things happen during rallies, so it’s not exactly newsworthy. The reason why we are sharing the video today is because of what happened to the camera mounted on the car’s dashboard.

During the accident, the dashcam went through the windshield and fell onto the ground, but continued to work despite the impact. Like in a rally video game played from a third-person perspective, the camera recorded as the car was dancing in the air, giving us the opportunity to watch some amazing footage.

As you can see, the video was edited and parts of it are in slow motion to provide a better look at what happened before, during, and after the crash. Rolling over in an old Skoda 130 LR sounds a bit terrifying, but thankfully both Martin Kdér and his co-driver escaped without any serious injuries. As to why the accident happened in the first place, it’s hard to say, but either something went wrong with the car or the driver clipped the corner and was unable to control the Skoda anymore.
