Will return to theaters on June 22nd.

Universal Pictures is celebrating the 15th anniversary of The Fast & The Furious by announcing plans to show the movie in theaters next month.

Originally released in 2001, the original movie was an instant success as it earned $40,089,015 during its opening weekend.  The movie would go on to gross over $144,533,925 and its success helped to spawn a blockbuster franchise which is slated to include a total of ten movies.

Only a handful of movie theaters appear to be showing the flick as there's only one cinema listed on Fandango in metro Detroit.  It will be showing the movie on June 22nd at 7 p.m. but other theaters are reporting airing the movie multiple times on June 22nd and June 23rd.

The eighth installment of The Fast & the Furious franchise is slated to hit movie theaters on April 14th, 2017.  It will star a number of familiar faces including Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, and Michelle Rodriguez.  They will be joined by newcomer Charlize Theron who will be playing a mysterious villain that is being billed as the group's "greatest adversary ever."

The eighth movie will be followed by two other installments and the three are set to be "one last trilogy to end the saga.”
