The shades make the hybrid sports coupe look more interesting.
BMW Individual’s new range of flashy colors for the i8 in the U.K. finally gives buyers the option of more eye-catching shades for the hybrid sports coupe. Until now, customers could get an attractive blue or pick from a boring palette of silver, white, and very dark gray. The early popularity of the Protonic Red Edition pushed the German automaker to offer clients something bolder.
The i8 has a shapely figure, and it shouldn’t just blend into traffic. These vibrant options let the coupe stand out. The choices include glitzy Java Green, vivid Speed Yellow, blazing Solar Orange, the eggplant-like Twilight Purple Pearl, Frozen Grey, Frozen Black, San Marino Blue, and Grigio Telesto Pearl. The Frozen shades have a matte finish, which slightly softens the i8’s styling.
BMW Individual’s snazzy colors are only available in the U.K. They add a hefty 5,495 pounds ($8,050 at current exchange rates) to the hybrid coupe’s bottom line.
There’s a remote possibility customers in North America might get these more exuberant colors, too. BMW spokesperson Rebecca Kiehne tells Motor1 the company is finalizing changes to the new model year's i8. She’s clear the BMW Individual’s shades aren’t on the options list yet, but things are still subject to change. We don’t think adding some new paint choices for the U.S. model would be too hard and hope the automaker includes them in the coupe’s palette outside of the U.K.
