What the HURRICANE is to the BMW M5/M6, the TYPHOON is to the X5 M/X6 M: An adrenaline pump for the blood, and candy for the eyes.
Representing the peak of performance for BMW’s M5 (SAV) and M6 (SAC), the previous G-POWER TYPHOON based on the previous E70 X5 and E71 X6 models had 725 hp. And with its wide body kit, which includes a carbon-fibre bonnet, the G-POWER TYPHOON is no “wolf in sheep’s clothing”.

Now G-POWER presents their TYPHOON wide-body conversion for the new BMW X5 (F85) and X6 (F86) models, as seen here on their 575 hp BMW
As with its predecessor, the new TYPHOON wide-body kit went through a 12-month gestation period before being released into the wild. The development process began with the digitisation of the base vehicle using a 3D scanner. The draft CAD design was then modelled in 1:1, and after the engineering prototyping was completed, the pre-production vehicle underwent thousands of kilometres of real world testing before being signed off.
The first thing that catches your eye is the distinctive wide-body kit with its muscular wheel arch flares that extend the width of the X6 M by several centimetres. The new front bumper/spoiler gives the car its distinctive TYPHOON face. Larger air vents deliver 20% more ram air to the uprated coolers, while the spoiler element reduces lift over the front axle.
A signature feature of the G-POWER X6 M TYPHOON is its carbon-fibre ‘Venturi’ bonnet, whose bulges and air scoops add to the cars purposeful appearance. The latter works in conjunction with the front bumper intakes to create a ‘dynamic venting’ system whose increased under bonnet cooling airflow speeds up hot air extraction, to the benefit of engine performance.
Elegant side skirts visually tie the wider front and rear arches together, leading your eyes to the new rear valance, whose large underbody diffuser is flanked by the pair of twin 102 mm tailpipes from the titanium sports exhaust system.
The big wheel arches are filled to the brim by 23-inch diameter ‘HURRICANE RR’ lightweight forged alloy wheels, shod with 315/25ZR23 tyres. These wheels are offered in Jet Black, Gun Metal Grey, and Stardust Silver. Options are the high sheen G-POWER DIAMONDCUT finish, with a personal signature if a customer so wishes, and as a fully polished version.
To match the purposeful appearance of their X6 M TYPHOON, G-POWER modify both some hardware and recode the ECU of the X6 M.
The core mechanical part of this conversion is the in-house modification of the two turbochargers for greater efficiency. The standard compressor wheels are replaced with larger G-POWER developed replacements, manufactured in-house on a precision CNC milling machine.
Rotating within a machined and gas flowed turbocharger housing, the new wheel is also lighter, and the resulting reduction in inertia benefits throttle response.
At the other end of these modified turbochargers, G-POWER also replaced the exhaust turbines with bespoke units featuring curved turbine blades with capped ends. The resulting reduction in exhaust gas temperatures allows boost pressure to be increased for more power and torque.
Finally, the modified turbochargers undergo dynamic fine balancing throughout their working range of up to 250,000 rpm, which, apart from ensuring quiet and vibration-free operation, also ensures long-term reliability and longevity.
To maintain a high level of spent gas extraction with correct backpressure levels, G-POWER created a flow-optimised sports exhaust system. This begins with sports catalytic converters and stainless steel exhaust downpipes mated to a lightweight titanium exhaust system, and ends with a four outlet pipe sports silencer tuned to deliver a deep V8 soundtrack.
The final piece in the puzzle is the proven Bi-Tronik 2 V3 ECU remap, which adapts the fuel, air, spark and boost pressure to make use of the greater flow capability of the revised turbochargers. The resulting big numbers are 750 hp / 551 kW, accompanied by 980 Nm of torque.
Specific engine software customisation not only puts the seal on this impressive performance boost, but also leaves the factory engine protection protocols and diagnostic functions unchanged.
With a top speed of over 300 km/h, and the quarter mile covered in just 11.5 seconds, the G-POWER X6 M TYPHOON will surprise many sports car drivers with its outrageous performance.
