A prototype of the 2017 Audi A5 Sportback has been photographed up close and personal in India.
Believed to be the only prototype in India, the black Sportback was spotted in Mumbai looking as if it had disguise only on the taillights. However, upon closer inspection we noticed some body-colored camouflage on the front and rear fenders while some parts of the rear bumper and hatch were also masked. Some will say it was a futile effort on Audi’s part, since the new A5 Sportback won’t actually look all that different compared to the outgoing model.
Be that as it may, the 2017 Audi A5 Sportback should prove to be quite a stunner and arguably one of the prettiest cars to come from Ingolstadt. Seeing as how the new A4 is bigger than its predecessor, expect the sleeker body style to also come with an increased footprint that will enable a more spacious cabin and a bigger trunk. The new A5 Sportback is hitting the gym to lose a considerable amount of weight thanks to the new MLB Evo platform like the A4 from where it will inherit the engines and gearboxes.
Meanwhile, Audi keeps teasing the new A5 Coupe like there’s no tomorrow.
The latest GIF alternates the image of a curvy woman with aerial footage of the car to let us know the coupe’s body will be just as appealing. A world premiere is set for June 2 while the Sportback will be introduced in the second half of the year, possibly in October at the Paris Motor Show. The beefier S versions with a 354-hp turbo-V6 3.0-liter heart should follow shortly.
