The upgrade offers a serious upgrade to the Camaro's stock 455 hp.
Hennessey builds some of the fastest cars in the world, but when the company isn’t breaking speed records, the firm tunes high-performance vehicles, too. In a new video, the company pits its supercharged 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS with 751-horsepower against a 707-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat. In a look taken from video games like the Street Fighter series, each coupe has a life bar at the top of the screen, which turns red when it takes a hit.
In stock trim, the 455-horsepower Camaro SS wouldn’t be able to fight the Challenger in a straight-line fight. To even the odds, Hennessey installs its HPE750 upgrade kit, including a supercharger running at 7-psi boost. The company also improves the engine with ported cylinder heads and many strengthened components to take the extra power. The firm claims the result of this tuning is a powertrain that gets the coupe to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds and an alleged top speed of 205 mph.
Hennessey is trying to sell its tuned Camaro in the video, so this is hardly a fair fight. However if you’d prefer a meaner Hellcat, the company can do that for customers, too. The HPE850 upgrade for the supercharged engine can push the output to 852 hp. The extra muscle would probably let the Dodge claim an easy victory here – even against the firm’s blown Camaro.
