President of ACO Pierre Fillon announced Hollywood actor Brad Pitt will wave the flag at the start of the 2016 edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 52-year-old American actor follows Ford's executive chairman Bill Ford, who waved the French tricolour at the start of the race last year.
An Academy Award-nominated actor for his role in 1995's sci-fi film 12 Monkeys, Pitt was believed to be starring in an upcoming film about the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours race, albeit the project has not been reported on much in the past two years.
Pitt has previous involvement in motorsport, having narrated the 2015 MotoGP documentary Hitting the Apex.
The 84th edition of the endurance race will feature 60 cars on the grid, as Porsche defends its 2015 crown against Audi and Toyota, in the LMP1 category.
