Volvo has released two new teaser images on Snapchat, forcing aging automotive journalists to pull out their smartphones and curse technology once again.
The company didn't have much to say about the model or models, but the pictures say the vehicle is "the future of Volvo" and "Not your daddy's Volvo." That's not much to go on but the car features Thor's Hammer LED headlights, a prominent grille, and large air intakes. We can also see gloss black accents, a sculpted hood, and what appears to be plastic body cladding around the wheel arches.
Volvo is keeping details under wraps but Carscoops is reporting the teaser images could preview the V40 and XC40 concepts. The cars will reportedly be unveiled on May 18th in Gothenburg which sounds reasonable as the company recently announced plans to introduce the 40 series "soon."
Both models will ride on the new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) which has been designed to accommodate hybrid and electric powertrains. Engine options remain unconfirmed but the models are expected to be offered with an assortment of three- and four-cylinder engines including a new T5 Twin Engine powertrain.
