Well, sort of...

In January this year the Lexus LF-LC Concept made the transition from a study to a production model. In Detroit, during the 2016 NAIAS, we saw the LC 500 that is now ready to hit the roads in the United States, Japan, and Europe – and Lexus has a pretty nice video spot to promote it.

Released by the Spanish distributor of the brand, the 1:15-minute long clip features actress Mar Saura, driving a bright red LC 500 at the Torrejon airport on the outskirts of Madrid. Thanks to the Spanish Air Force, the Japanese coupe shares the track with an F-18 fighter jet. A real drag race between the two would have been impressive to watch, but seeing Saura behind the wheel of the sexy LC 500 is pretty cool, too.

Speaking of the car, thankfully, Lexus is still using naturally aspirated engines for its range topping sports model. The LC 500 is hiding a 5.0-liter V8 32-valve NA engine under the hood that sends 467 horsepower (343 kilowatts) and 389 pound-feet (527 newton meters) of torque to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Interestingly, Lexus has decided not to use a dual-clutch transmission, but the company claims the gearbox is rivaling the shift times of a DCT. We are tempted to believe this, as the setup ensures the 0 to 60 miles per hour (98 kilometers per hour) sprint takes less than 4.5 seconds.
