BMW brand tops the 200,000 mark in a month for the first time.

BMW Group has announced it has achieved record sales numbers during the last month.

It seems the premium sector is booming these days as all major players are reporting high sales and new records. BMW Group is keeping pace with its rivals, reporting 240,659 BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles were sold in March, representing a record number in the company’s 100-year history.

Naturally, the BMW brand is the top-seller in the company's lineup and its vehicles topped the 200,000 mark in a single month for the first time. More precisely, the marque delivered a total of 201,352 cars, an increase of 2.9 percent on the “very high sales of the same month last year.” During the first three months of the year, the German manufacturer sold six percent more vehicles than in Q1 of 2015 with a total of 478,743 vehicles delivered.

Mini is also going strong, concluding the best month in its history with 39,061 cars handed to customers. Q1 results are also strong with 78,311 units delivered, an increase of 5.4 percent on last year.

The only brand in the BMW Group to report a decrease is Rolls-Royce, which delivered 551 cars during the first three months of the year. This represents a major decrease of 29.4 percent compared with the same period last year. The automaker is explaining these results with the “substantial preparations for the start of production of the new Dawn Drophead Coupe.”

“March 2016 has been the best single month ever for BMW Group sales and I’m delighted to see that our innovative product range is enabling us to achieve ongoing, sustainable and profitable growth," Dr Ian Robertson, member of the board of management of BMW AG, commented. “Globally, I am confident that we will see this positive trend continue through the year,” he added.
