Modest updates for the high-performance Mustang

Ford has announced a series of updates to the 2017 Shelby GT350 Mustang.

Set to go on sale in the United States in June, the 2017 Shelby GT350 Mustang features a newly standard Track Package that includes an aluminum strut tower brace, a MagneRide damping system, and a rear spoiler.  The package also includes engine oil, transmission, and differential coolers.

Styling changes are limited but the color palette now includes Ruby Red Metallic, Lightning Blue, and Grabber Blue.  The new colors replace the previously available Deep Impact Blue and Competition Orange.

The interior carries over but the 2017 Shelby GT350 Mustang can been equipped with two new packages.  The Electronics Package includes a nine-speaker audio system and a SYNC 3 infotainment system with GPS navigation.  The optional Convenience Package goes one step further as it includes all the aforementioned equipment as well as leather-trimmed power sport seats.

Power is provided by a 5.2-liter flat plane crank V8 engine that produces 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque.  It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission which enables the car to return an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 14 miles per gallon city / 21 mpg highway / 16 mpg combined.
