The mildly tweaked 2016 Forester will go on sale next month in United Kingdom.
Back in October last year, Subaru made some changes to its Forester compact SUV sold at home in Japan and now the model has made the trip to U.K. where it’s the company’s best-selling car. Work started on the outside where there’s now a refreshed front grille featuring a wing motif in the mesh and a resculpted bumper with a new chrome trim.
The wraparound headlights have also gone through a minor nip and tuck as the clusters now have a black theme while maintaining the so-called “hawk-eye” configuration. In addition, these are LED headlights equipped with adaptive front lighting system ensuring superior illumination as the lights rotate left and right into corners. The 2016 model year for the Forester in United Kingdom also brings some revisions to the LED taillights.
Stepping inside, Subaru has installed more sound deadening material and thicker window glass to make the cabin quieter and more relaxing. For the same purpose, the 2016 Forester has new seals around the window frames which according to Subaru can absorb more sound than before, thus further reducing noise levels.
The list of tweaks doesn’t end here as the updated Forester for U.K. has a retuned suspension and optimized gearboxes. A six-speed manual comes as standard with the 150-hp naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter gasoline and 147-hp turbodiesel 2.0-liter engines which can be optionally fitted with a continuously variable transmission. The latter is standard if you opt for the punchier 241-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine in the range-topping Forester XT.
