Opening day is right around the corner so Ford has taken the wraps off the 2016 F-150 MVP Edition.

Designed to celebrate the Kansas City Royals' World Series win last season, the limited edition model is based on the F-150 XLT and features a standard chrome package.  The truck has also been equipped with a spray-in bedliner, polished stainless rocker panels, and "MVP Edition" badging.  Additional changes are limited but the special edition will be available exclusively in Blue Flame or Oxford White.

Interestingly, Ford got the idea for the special edition from a Kansas City Royals fan named Marc Lassalle.  He apparently remembered Ford offered a Ranger MVP Edition in 1985 to commemorate the Royals' first win in the World Series.  Ford liked the idea and decided to create a new special edition to mark the team's second victory.

Production will be limited to 300 units and all the models will be built at the company's Kansas City Assembly Plant.  Ford declined to release pricing or performance specifications but noted the special edition is currently on sale at dealerships in the Kansas City area.
