According to reports out of the United Kingdom, Land Rover will likely offer a rugged Discovery SVX.

Little is known about the model but Autocar is reporting the Discovery SVX will likely be developed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations and arrive about a year or a year and a half after the 2017 Discovery is introduced.

The model is expected to feature styling tweaks and an assortment of high-tech off-roading equipment.  There's no word on specifics but the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept could provide some hints as it had a Laser Terrain Scanning system, an improved Terrain Response system, and a unique "see-through" hood which used cameras to feed live images to a head-up display.

The Discovery SVX hasn't officially been confirmed for production but JLR Special Vehicle Operations Managing Director John Edwards hinted "We have taken the opportunity with the Sport SVR to go right, and SVX gives us a chance to go left. It’s clear that a result of that will be that the Land Rover proposition will benefit overall — we will be amplifying the core brand values.”
