Ford and Shelby have celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Shelby GT350-H by unveiling the Shelby GT-H at the New York Auto Show.
Based on the 2016 Ford Mustang GT, the Shelby GT-H has a black exterior with gold racing stripes. The car has also been equipped with a carbon fiber front splitter, a ventilated hood, and a rear spoiler. Other highlights include "Shelby GT-H" side stripes and 19-inch aluminum wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires.
The interior is largely untouched but designers installed an individually numbered plaque and "Shelby GT-H" sill plates. The model also has embroidered headrests and special floor mats.
Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 that has been equipped with a cat-back exhaust system. Ford declined to release performance specifications but the standard model produces 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
On the topic of performance, the car has been outfitted with a Ford Racing Handling Pack that includes lowering springs, new say bars, and specially-tuned dampers.
The Shelby GT-H will become part of the Hertz Adrenaline Collection and the model will be available to rent at select airport locations. There's no word on how much the car costs to rent but the first models are slated to be available in time for Memorial Day weekend.
