Mercedes-AMG made a splash at the New York Auto Show and one of its most interesting models was the E43.
Set to slot below the E63, the model has been equipped with a new front fascia that features a single-bar diamond grille. The sporty styling continues further back as designers installed a trunk-mounted spoiler, a rear diffuser, and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. Lastly, there's unique 19-inch alloy wheels with a high-gloss black finish.
Once seated behind the multifunction sports steering wheel, drivers will find MB-Tex and Dinamica upholstery as well as red contrast stitching. A closer inspection will reveal alloy pedals, red seat belts, and a unique AMG instrument cluster.
Power is provided by a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 396 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. This enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.
On the topic of performance, the E43 has been equipped with a speed-sensitive sports steering system, an AMG Airmatic Adaptive Sport Suspension, and an AMG Dynamic Select system with five different modes.
The Mercedes-AMG E43 will go on sale in the United States early next year.
