2017 Buick Encore brings upscale styling to the Big Apple
The Buick Encore has been a hit ever since it was launched three years ago and the company is hoping to keep that momentum going by introducing the facelifted model at the New York Auto Show.
Set to go on sale this fall, the 2017 Encore has a more premium appearance as it adopts an all-new front fascia with slender headlights and a winged grille that draws inspiration from the one used on the Avenir concept. The upscale styling continues further back as the crossover has been equipped with restyled mirrors, new LED taillights, and chrome exhaust tips. Rounding out the changes are restyled wheels and an extended color palette that includes Black Cherry Metallic, Ebony Twilight Metallic, and White Frost Metallic.
The interior has always been one of the Encore's weak points but designers decided to correct the problem by adding higher quality materials, a new dashboard, and a revised center stack. Other highlights include a push-button ignition, additional metallic trim, and an 8-inch IntelliLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
A turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine resides under the hood and will likely be available with two different outputs. Nothing is official but the outgoing Encore had 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, while the Encore Sport Touring developed 153 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.
