The Mercedes-AMG C63 Convertible has been spied undergoing some last minute testing on the Nürburgring.

Set to be unveiled at the New York Auto Show on March 23rd, the convertible follows in the footsteps of the standard model but adopts an aggressive front fascia, revised side skirts, and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system.  The model has also been equipped with a sport-tuned suspension and lightweight alloy wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system.

The interior will largely carryover but we can expect the usual AMG styling tweaks including a modified instrument cluster and optional carbon fiber trim.  Drivers will also find sport seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

The entry-level variant will be powered by a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.  It will be connected to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission which should enable the car to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in approximately four seconds.

Buyers looking for something more powerful will be able to order the C63 S Convertible which has an upgraded V8 engine that develops 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.  The extra power should allow the model to run from 0-62 mph in roughly 3.9 seconds.
