The first images of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk have emerged onto the web ahead of the model’s official debut next week in New York.

It was back in September 2012 when Jeep introduced a limited-run Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and now this new version seems to follow just about the same philosophy. It brings a variety of styling enhancements in the same vein as the Trailhawk-badged variants of the Cherokee and Renegade.

Like those two, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk also gets a jacked up suspension, chunkier tires, red tow hooks, black hood accents, and some tweaks inside the cabin like the red stitching. All these changes are on a rather subtle level, but they do make the Grand Cherokee appear meaner and ready to tackle the off road.

It doesn’t seem to have the 707-hp supercharged HEMI 6.2-liter V8 some were hoping for, but at least we know for sure that version is in the works. Jeep CEO Mike Manley confirmed the high-performance SUV will be out before the end of 2017 and it will probably get the “Trackhawk” name.

Now that several images have leaked onto the web, we expect an official online release from Jeep to occur very soon. The 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will be on display at the New York Auto Show from March 23 for the first press day.
