The Cayenne SUV is now available with the latest version of the Porsche Communication Management system (PCM) which comes as standard across the range.

Besides the four-cylinder Macan for Germany, the other news coming from Stuttgart today concerns the larger Cayenne which has gained the latest and greatest seven-inch PCM. It uses a high-resolution touchscreen display with an optimized user interface which according to Porsche is now more intuitive and offers a smartphone-like experience. It has support for multi-touch gestures and also boasts a proximity sensor which detects user input to prompt relevant menu contents.

The navigation software now has 3D representation (in some regions) for the first time and benefits from high-resolution maps. Pay extra for the optional Connect Plus module and you will be able to take advantage of real-time traffic information. Google Street View and Google Earth are also implemented and there’s even a Wi-Fi hotspot boosting connectivity with smartphones even further.

The latest PCM can work with a new Porsche Connect app that allows users to transfer destination data to the PCM straight from a smartphone. This new handy software is included in the aforementioned Connect Plus module and gives drivers the possibility to control several functions of the car and access data (including fuel level) by using a smartphone.

Porsche’s latest iteration of the PCM made its debut on the facelifted 911 range and will also be offered in the new model year Macan and the recently introduced 718 model line.
