Bugatti has kicked off the countdown for the Chiron’s reveal set to take place on March 1 at 09:45 CET.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is fast approaching as Bugatti will finally unveil the Veyron’s successor on Tuesday. To create even more buzz, the VW-owned hyper car manufacturer has set a timer on its official website to count the days and hours left until the big premiere.

Over the last few months we have seen our fair share of spy images indicating the Chiron’s design will be derived from the Vision Gran Turismo concept mixed up with many cues inspired by the now defunct Veyron. Overall, the styling will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but even so prepare for something truly exciting as demonstrated by the attached teaser image.

There have been many reports concerning the technical specifications and the latest gossip indicates 1,500 horsepower and 1,107 pound-feet (1,500 newton meters). It will have the Veyron’s quad turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine, but thoroughly upgraded. Furthermore, it will reportedly benefit from e-turbo technology.

As for performance, the Bugatti Chiron is expected to run the sprint from a standstill to 62 miles (100 kilometers) per hour in as little as 2.2 seconds and top out at a mesmerizing 290 mph (467 kph.)

It seems only 500 units are destined for production and Bugatti will assemble these at a rate of 100 cars per year. Well over 100 people have already placed an order for the Chiron, despite a rumored starting price of approximately $2.19M (€2M / £1.47M.)

There’s also going to be a Targa version slated to arrive in 2018 and you can imagine it will be even more expensive than the coupe. It should be specified the aforementioned 500-unit production run likely includes both body styles.

Bugatti will unleash its new beast in Geneva on March 1 at 09:45 CET.
