Mercedes has released yet another teaser image for the C Class Cabriolet, but what really caught our attention was actually a different member of the C family.
There’s no shortage of teasers for the open-top C Class due in Geneva early next month, but this time around the image is a little bit more interesting. The C is posing for a family portrait which among others includes a new member of the family, the Mercedes-AMG-badged C43 Coupe. Think of it as a warm version of the C Class Coupe family that will slot underneath the range-topping C63 Coupe.
This newcomer would have normally been called Mercedes C450 AMG Sport Coupe, but Daimler decided recently to integrate AMG Sport models in the Mercedes-AMG family. This means the already available C450 AMG Sport Sedan will soon make the switch to the C43 moniker. Both the sedan and coupe will share a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.
Just like the sedan, the C43 Coupe will come exclusively with a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system linked to a seven-speed automatic transmission. It should be a tad quicker than the equivalent sedan which needs 4.8 seconds to complete the sprint to 60 miles (96 kilometers) per hour, so 4.7 seconds is probably a good guess.
Both the Mercedes C Class Cabriolet and the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe will be unveiled on March 1 at the Geneva Motor Show. However, we expect an online reveal of the two to occur at the end of this month. Later this year, the cabriolet version will get its own C43 edition as seen in recent spy photos and will be followed by a mighty V8-powered C63 acting as the flagship model.
