The aftermarket specialists at RENNtech have given the Mercedes-AMG GT S a massive power boost and other mechanical upgrades.
While we are patiently waiting for Mercedes-AMG to finally reveal the GT R, one tuner has decided to infuse more power in the S version. RENNtech’s stage 1 turbo upgrade for the 4.0-liter V8 engine includes newly developed lightweight billet compressor wheels and larger impellers.
In addition, the compressor housings are precision CNC-machined and flow-tested to compensate for the increased impeller size. An optional R1 Performance Package adds high-flow air filters and stainless steel downpipes with 200-cell catalytic converters.
After implementing all of these upgrades, the V8 engine gains an extra 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts) and 161 pound-feet (218 newton meters) of torque, thus giving the AMG GT S a massive 716 hp (534 kW) and 656 lb-ft (888 Nm). The turbo upgrade costs $11,880 and comes bundled with a remapped ECU which is necessary to match the added muscle.
There’s no word regarding performances, but rest assured the tuned Mercedes-AMG GT S is substantially faster than the standard car which hits 60 miles (96 kilometers) per hour in 3.7 seconds.
Besides the additional power, RENNtech also has a four-corner coilover suspension kit with full adjustability and up to 1.5-inch lowering at both front and rear axles. It costs an additional $1,980 and brings better handling without affecting the comfort you get with the standard setup.
