The folks over at Quattro World have managed to find out Audi is indeed preparing an RS3 Sedan which will be out for the 2018 model year in North America.
Almost a year ago we heard a rumor about the possibility of seeing an RS3 Sedan in United States and now it seems it will actually happen. Several undisclosed sources that attended the Audi Summit for Audi of America employees told Quattro World an RS3 Sedan is planned for 2018MY.
It doesn’t really come as a big surprise taking into account the Ingolstadt-based marque unveiled the hardcore A3 clubsport quattro almost two years ago and that concept was a clear indication of a potential RS3 Sedan.
While the concept packed a massive output of 525 horsepower (386 kilowatts), the RS3 Sedan is expected to have more than 400 hp (298 kW) from the turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine. That’s still a lot of muscle which will be channeled exclusively to the proprietary quattro all-wheel drive system with help from a seven-speed S tronic transmission.
It will carry over the upcoming upgrades brought by the A3 Sedan facelift, so it will be offered among others with the fancy Audi Virtual Cockpit as an optional feature. It’s also set to receive bespoke bucket seats and will feature a slightly revised look for the headlights and front grille. The high-powered sedan will likely get a fresh set of alloy wheels and probably all of these changes will be seen first on the RS3 Sportback facelift.
The RS3 Sedan US Spec is slated to arrive towards the end of next year as a 2018MY and will likely kick off at around $55,000 - $60,000. Keep in mind this estimation is based on the fact that a 2016 S3 Sedan begins in United States at $42,500.
