India’s Tata Motors is showcasing at 2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi the Nexon crossover in production specification.
Unveiled as a concept two years ago, the Nexon is ready to hit dealership in India and compete directly with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and the Mahindra TUV300. The design takes a bit of time getting used to, especially the rear end which isn’t what we would call attractive. The Nexon is the latest model to embody Tata’s “Impact Design” philosophy and it will be offered with LED daytime running lights and taillights.
The 2016 Nexon will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine of undisclosed output and a turbodiesel 1.5-liter rated at 108 horsepower (81 kilowatts) and 192 pound-feet (260 newton meters) of torque. The engines are going to be coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox sending power exclusively to the front wheels.
As far as the interior is concerned, the main highlight is a 6.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system working together with an eight-speaker sound system. It has support for voice commands and also provides navigation services so you don’t get lost on the overly crowded streets of New Delhi.
The 2016 Tata Nexon is slated to go on sale in the following months in India. It's now exhibited at Auto Expo where it shares the spotlight with the larger Hexa.
