We haven't heard much from Gumpert lately but that changes today as GT Spirit is reporting the brand has been bought by a group of clients affiliated with Hong Kong's SPS Automotive Performance.

Details are limited but the publication is reporting Gumpert is expected to make an apperance at the Geneva Motor Show.  It remains unclear if the company will be showing a new model but we'll likely learn about Gumpert's plans for the future.

The company's new lineup is bit of a mystery but Gumpert showed an Apollo S at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. More recently, Gumpert unveiled the entry-level Explosion. The car never went into production but it had a 2.0-liter engine that produced 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.  It was connected to a six-speed transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enabled the Explosion to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately three seconds.

While Gumpert hasn't had much exposure outside of Europe, the company rose to fame following an appearance on Top Gear and a record setting lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
