Vauxhall has introduced the 2016 Maloo VXR8.
Essentially a renamed Holden, the facelifted Maloo features a new front fascia and a ventilated hood with pitch-black air vents. The car also has pitch-black mirrors and 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. Rounding out the changes is a revised color palette that now includes Slipstream (vibrant blue) and Some Like it Hot (metallic red).
The interior largely carries over but the 2016 model comes equipped with additional standard equipment include Onyx leather seats, an Enhanced Driver Interface, and an upgraded infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity as well as GPS navigation.
Bigger changes occur under the hood as the LS3 V8 engine has been replaced by a new supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8. It produces 528 hp (536 PS / 394 kW) and 495 lb-ft (671 Nm) of torque which is an increase of 103 hp (105 PS / 77 kW) and 74 lb-ft (101 Nm). Thanks to the extra power, the Maloo VXR8 rockets from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
To keep things under control, engineers installed new springs and dampers to reduce body-roll and improve handling. The model also gains a standard limited slip differential and a Launch Control system on models equipped with a manual transmission.
The 2016 Maloo VXR8 will be priced from £54,500 OTR which makes it slightly cheaper than the VXR8 sedan.
