Volkswagen has released the first teaser image of a new concept that will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month.
Volkswagen didn't have much to say about the concept but the teaser image shows it will have LED headlights, an LED-infused grille, and an illuminated VW logo. Additional styling details are hard to make out but we can see a relatively flat hood and LED daytime lighting units.
While Volkswagen is keeping details under wraps, the automaker says the concept's unveiling will help usher in a "new era of affordable long-range electric vehicles." The company also said the concept will show how much cars will change in the coming years.
Besides introducing the concept, Volkswagen will unveil new display and operating concepts. The company will also highlight the benefits of connected cars and provide a "concrete view" of a new development that relates to infotainment systems.
Previous reports have suggested the concept will preview an all-new Microbus. Nothing is official but the production model will reportedly be launched in 2017 and feature turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines as well as an electric powertrain. The latter variant will reportedly have a range of 250-310 miles (400-500 km).
