Kia South Korea has launched a new promotional clip for the latest Sportage that went on sale recently.

Now in its fourth generation, the Sportage crossover has hit domestic dealerships and Kia wants to boost the model’s awareness by launching more advertisements targeting the Korean Domestic Market (KDM). The company’s South Korean division has revealed a new ad that takes inspiration from the Grand Theft Auto video games to show the crossover with the 1.7 and 2.0 diesel engines and how efficient these two are.

Our Korean is a bit rusty, so we don’t know what those guys are saying in the clip. However, we can clearly see the GTA influences, especially in the ridiculous body movements of the characters. The weirdness level is dialed up a notch when the man with the glasses starts licking a lemon lollipop to boost his “power” level, but overall it seems to be a funny ad. Perhaps it would be even more comical if the video came with subtitles in English.

Given the commercial’s GTA theme, it seems Kia wants to attract younger buyers on the look for a compact crossover. The new design also seems to tailor those in their 20s and 30s as Kia’s styling department made the Sportage look sportier than before.
