Suzuki has announced plans to offer a Vitara S featuring the company’s newly developed 1.4-liter BOOSTERJET engine.

In a bid to spice up the Vitara crossover, Suzuki is introducing a more powerful S version that packs 140 PS (103 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) from its new motor. It's a 1.4-liter turbo direct-injection unit that benefits from the company’s BOOSTERJET technology and offers all of the torque from just 1,500 rpm. This gives it enough punch for a decent 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 10.2 seconds, regardless if you go for the standard manual or the optional automatic transmission.

There’s more to the Vitara S than its stronger engine as Suzuki has also given it a special look to boost its appeal further. It gets glossy black 17-inch alloy wheels and a new appearance for the front grille flanked by modified headlights with red projector covers.

The model can also be visually distinguished by its satin silver side mirror caps, a new rear upper spoiler, and black side body mouldings. It’s the same story on the inside where the cabin has been enhanced thanks to alloy pedals, red accents on the instruments and air vents, as well as red upholstery stitching.

Customers will be able to buy the 2016 Suzuki Vitara S with this Bright Red solid paint or one of the three metallic hues: Cosmic Black, Galactic Grey, and Cool White Pearl.

It should be mentioned the model comes as standard with the proprietary ALLGRIP four-wheel drive system providing superior traction and four selectable modes.

Pricing in the UK kicks off at £20,899 for the version equipped with a manual gearbox and from £22,249 if you go for the automatic.
