The Maserati Ghibli has served as foundation for an imaginary Alfa Romeo Giorgio Quadrifoglio to take on the M5 / E63 / RS6.
The flagship Giulia Q fueled the imagination of Theophilus Chin as the “automotive manipulator” decided to envision a mid-size sedan that will eventually join the lineup. It will take some time though as right now Alfa is putting the finishing touches on the Giulia and the firm’s first ever crossover. Both are due in 2016, so don’t expect a mid-size sedan to go on sale sooner than the second half of 2017.
Getting back to the render at hand, it’s based on the Maserati Ghibli and was created by using design cues from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. We find the end result to be very appealing and worthy to go up against the German high-performance trio. It ticks all the right boxes to be an interesting choice in this segment: gorgeous design, rear-wheel drive, lightweight construction, and that Italian flair making it extra special.
The mid-size sedan’s launch will greatly depend on the success of the Giulia and crossover, so fingers crossed these two will bring in the cash necessary to allow FCA focus on other models. If everything works out as planned, Alfa Romeo also has plans for a full-size sedan, a bigger crossover, a new GTV, and a next-gen Giulietta. The MiTo will be eventually phased out, while details concerning a new 4C are murky at this point.
