OmniAuto.it has digitally imagined the upcoming 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan (W213).
After seeing the new mid-size sedan from Daimler with very little disguise earlier this month, it’s easy to figure out how the real deal will look like. We might not have to wait until the Detroit Auto Show in January as an online reveal in December seems very probable. We’ve been through the design numerous times and once again this render clearly shows it will look basically like an elongated C-Class.
As a matter of fact, it will actually use the C’s MRA platform and is expected to go on a diet despite being slighter bigger than the outgoing model. It should be roomier on the inside and will likely spawn a more luxurious Mercedes-Maybach E-Class version with a stretched wheelbase in the same vein as its bigger brother. The cabin will be the result of a mashup between the C-Class and the S-Class, likely with the latter’s dual digital screens.
Following the sedan’s reveal in January, the more practical wagon (T-Modell) will likely show its production face a couple of months later at the Geneva Motor Show. The wagon is believed to form the basis for a rugged version with a jacked up suspension to go up against the Audi A6 allroad quattro.
