Spotted earlier this week, the McLaren 675LT Spider is back in a fresh batch of images prior to next year’s expected launch.

When McLaren introduced the 675LT Coupe back in March at the Geneva Motor Show, company officials said a Spider version won’t happen. However, the Woking-based automaker received a lot of requests from potential clients wanting an open-top version which is why last month the Spider was officially announced for production. It will likely be introduced in 2016 and it’s really not that hard to imagine how it will look like.

McLaren hasn’t said how many units are planned to exit the assembly line, but it will likely be just about as exclusive as the coupe which was available in 500 examples. We do know for sure it will be substantially more expensive than its fixed roof sibling which carried a starting price of £259,500 in UK and $349,500 in US.

There’s little we don’t know about the technical specs as the model will use the exact same hardware as the coupe. This means power will come from a V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo with 675 PS (496 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) sent to the road via a 7-speed SSG transmission. Performance figures should mirror those of the coupe, so expect the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) to take around 2.9 seconds. Top speed will likely decrease a little bit compared to the coupe which can hit 205 mph (330 km/h).

Expect to see the McLaren 675LT Spider to be introduced in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show.
