Lamborghini has uploaded on its YouTube channel a clip with the Huracan LP 580-2 receiving its world premiere at the LA Auto Show.

President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann was in charge of introducing the rear-wheel drive Huracan and as you can see it looks pretty much the same as the standard AWD model. It does come with slightly different front and rear bumpers along with a new set of 19-inch wheels covered in Pirelli P Zero tires created specifically for the latest bull from Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Eschewing the all-wheel drive setup in favor of a RWD arrangement has enabled a 33 kg (72 lbs) weight loss and at the same time has made it more fun to drive. It’s down on power by 30 PS (22 kW) as the V10 5.2-liter engine now delivers 580 PS (426 kW), but even so it hits 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and does 198 mph (320 km/h). It is a tad slower than the LP 610-4, but purists will still prefer this over the AWD model especially since it’s also almost €20,000 cheaper.

This won’t be the only rear-wheel drive Huracan as Lamborghini announced a while back there’s going to be a hardcore version with more power and less weight. This will obviously command a serious premium over the standard LP 580-2 and will likely come out within the next two years.
