A race on public streets between two heavily modified Corvettes ended badly after one of the cars crashed while doing around 150 mph.

Footage recorded by the passenger of an 800-whp Procharged C6 Grand Sport shows the tuned car dueling on public roads with a 750-whp Vortech T-Trim C6 Z06. At the 0:17 mark, both cars go over a bump and that is when the Grand Sport driver loses control and eventually crashes into the median barrier.

Thirty seconds after the impact, the car looks totaled and on fire, but somehow both the driver and passenger escaped without any serious injuries thanks to “lifesaving safety equipment” as mentioned by Speeders Digest.

The two were extremely lucky to get out of the Vette safe and sound as the crash apparently occurred while the Grand Sport was doing approximately 150 mph (241 km/h). Moments before the camera goes blank, we can see the vehicle violently hitting the concrete barrier. As for the aftermath images, these are truly horrifying and make us wonder how those two escaped unscathed.

The video is not exactly new, but there is something to be learned from this. Never race on public roads as it’s very dangerous, especially when driving well over the legal speed limit. Hopefully these two have learned their lesson and next time will race on an enclosed circuit.
