Mercedes has unveiled the 2017 GLS at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Essentially a facelifted and renamed version of the GL, the GLS features a new front fascia with restyled headlights and a revised grille.  The crossover also has a new rear bumper and updated taillights.

Buyers looking for a more aggressive appearance can order an optional Sport package on the GLS550.  It features unique bumpers, running boards, and 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels.

The interior largely carries over but designers installed a new three-spoke steering wheel and a free-standing COMAND Online infotainment system with an 8-inch display.  The model also boasts revised trim and a modified center console with a new touchpad controller.

Customers will be able to order an AMG Line interior package which adds nappa leather sport seats, a sports steering wheel, and stainless steel pedals with rubber studs.  The package also includes new instrument dials with a graduated checkered flag motif.

In the United States a variety of different engines will be available including:

  • A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 362 bhp (270 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque
