Koenigsegg has announced the Autoskin feature for the Regera supercar.

Described as a “robotized door system”, the Autoskin basically allows drivers to remotely control some of the body panels of the Regera. The system that is “truly turning the Regera into a transformer” relies on inbuilt hydraulics to open every door on the vehicle, as well as the boot lid and the bonnet. The Swedish company explains drivers can use the feature when the car is being cleaned, for example.

There’s still no information what would be the price for the Autoskin and whether it will be offered as an optional feature for the current Regera owners.

Actually, this is not the only unique technical feature on the Regera that received its global premiere during the Geneva Motor Show back in March this year. It also has “the world’s first fully foldable, active, top-mounted rear wing”, as the manufacturer announced then.

The car is powered by the so-called KDD system, that includes a 5.0-liter V8 engine and three electric motors for a total output of “way over 1500 HP”. Koenigsegg says this is “the most powerful electrical motor set-up in production car history” that provides 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 2.8 seconds and a crazy 0-400 km/h (0-250 mph) sprint in only 20 seconds.
