Our spies are back with another video and this time we get to see the forthcoming Genesis G80.

If you haven’t heard of the Genesis G80, it will essentially be a facelifted version of the outgoing Hyundai Genesis. Hyundai recently decided to inaugurate its “Genesis” luxury sub-brand and the first model of the bunch will be the range-topping Equus-replacing G90 which will eventually be followed by this, the smaller G80. The prototype spotted here still has that Chrysler 300C-like grid styled front grille, but we are not entirely sure this will make it on the production car.

Since this is a facelift, don’t expect any changes to the vehicle’s shape, but there will be some optical revisions to make the Genesis worthy of its newly attributed luxury model status. It will also have a more upscale interior with improved materials and possibly new tech goodies including a more generous array of safety and assistance systems.

There are reasons to believe the 5.0-liter V8 normally aspirated engine will be dropped to make room for a newly developed twin-turbo V6 3.3-liter that was spotted recently in a test mule of the next-gen Genesis Coupe where it was paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine is being engineered by Hyundai’s N performance division and will have an estimated 480 bhp (358 kW) output.

Expect to see the Genesis G80 to come out in the second half of next year as a 2017MY.
