James Bond might be winning at the box office with his Aston Martin DB10 but that hasn't stopped former Stig, Ben Collins, from proclaiming the Ford Mustang is the "ultimate stunt car."
In his new Lionsgate film titled “Ben Collins: Stunt Driver,” the former Top Gear icon puts a number of high-performance models to the test in an action-packed video that features everything from aerobatic planes to helicopter gunships.
The Mustang GT comes away with top honors but the video also stars the Aston Martin Vanquish, the BMW M3 and the McLaren 650S. Viewers will also see appearances from the Ariel Nomad, the Noble M600 and the Jaguar F-Type among others.
According to Collins, “The point of this adventure was to find the perfect car for an epic, high octane, Hollywood-style car chase, and it’s the iconic Ford Mustang that gets top billing." He went on to say the Mustang has starred in numerous car chases over the years and it's still the "weapon of choice to leave the bad guys standing in a cloud of tire smoke.”
As for the Mustang itself, Ford has already sold more than 10,000 units in Europe with nearly 4,000 orders coming from Germany alone. The video features the Mustang GT which has a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 421 PS (309 kW) and enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Of course, European consumers can also opt for the less powerful Mustang EcoBoost which has a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 317 PS (233 kW).
