Mercedes has announced the development of their next-generation fuel-cell vehicle is "on track" and it will be launched by 2017.

The company didn't have much to say about the model but it is slated to use a new fuel-cell powertrain that was developed through a partnership with Ford and Renault-Nissan.

While Mercedes is staying tight-lipped about their next FCV, they highlighted the growing hydrogen refueling infrastructure in California by embarking on a 1,000 mile trip with a handful of B-Class F-CELL customers.  Mercedes went on to say even longer trips will be possible in the future as the number of public hydrogen refueling stations in California is set to increase to more than 40 by the end of 2016.
