Another set of images with an official Volvo S90 scale model has emerged prior to the car’s reveal set to occur in the following weeks.

The S90 is once again in the news after yet another batch of images showing an official scale model has hit the web, just a few days after several pics of the V90 wagon version emerged also in scale model form. The sedan seen here wears an attractive Liquid Blue paint and we can clearly see how the XC90’s design lines have been translated to the mid-size sedan body style for this new S90 which will effectively replace the aging S80.

It will use Volvo’s brand new SPA platform set to underpin all of its mid to large models which will be powered exclusively by four-cylinder engines, with the cream of the crop being a T8 version mixing up a 2.0-liter Driver E engine with an electric motor which in the XC90 is good enough for 394 bhp (293 kW) and most likely it will be the same story with the S90 & V90 duo.

As for the interior, there won’t be any surprises as the layout will essentially be carried over from the XC90, albeit the air vents will have a different shape, as seen in the spy photos we published several days ago.

The S90 will be unveiled before the end of this year and will hit China initially, but other countries will follow in 2016 when the V90 will also be launched for those who need to haul more cargo.
