Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced plans to offer a Caravelle Generation Six special edition which represents a throwback to the model’s roots.

It serves as a celebration for the original T1 and will be offered with a two-tone red and white paint along with retro-flavored 18-inch DISC alloy wheels taken from the Beetle. It also comes as standard with LED headlights and taillights, front fog lights (with cornering function), electrically adjustable and heated folding side mirrors, chrome detailing on the front grille and “Generation Six” badging on the B pillar.

To avoid small bumps, VW has fitted front and rear parking sensors and in case of an accident there’s an Automatic Post-Collision Braking system which will automatically apply the brakes once the airbag sensors detect an impact.

On the inside it gets a generous array of standard equipment such as tinted rear windows, Alcantara & leather upholstery, Titanium Black and Moonrock floor mats and a leather-covered steering wheel. The model also comes with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), three-zone climate control, heated front seats, infotainment with sat-nav, DAB and radio, along with special brushed metal trim.

You can only get the Volkswagen Caravelle Generation Six with a Euro 6-compliant four-cylinder, 2.0-liter TDI BlueMotion engine paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission. There are actually two power versions offered as the base model has 150 PS (110 kW) while the stronger iteration of the turbodiesel delivers 204 PS (150 kW).

The order books have already opened for the UK market and deliveries are set to begin next month, with prices kicking off at £52,051 for the weaker engine specification and £54,547 if you upgrade to the beefier motor.
