2016 Honda Civic goes into production

The 2016 Honda Civic sedan has gone into production at the company's plant in Alliston, Canada.

Unveiled earlier this year, the tenth-generation Civic is a radical departure from its predecessor as it features sportier styling, a stiffer chassis and an upgraded interior.  The model can also be equipped with an all-new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 174 bhp (129 kW) and 162 lb-ft (219 Nm) of torque.

While production of the sedan has just begun, Honda said we'll soon be treated to the "most diverse and innovative lineup in Civic's 43-year history."  That lineup includes sedan and coupe variants, a five-door hatchback, high-performance Si models and the first Civic Type-R to be offered in North America.
