ABT has found an exciting way to celebrate the Volkswagen Polo's 40th anniversary by releasing a heavily modified version of the popular supermini.

They worked on the facelifted GTI version which in standard configuration packs a mighty 192 PS punch from its 1.8 TSI engine that generates a maximum torque of 320 Nm (236 lb-ft). After working their magic, the engineers from ABT Sportsline were able to bump the output to 230 PS (169 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft).

There's no word about performance just yet, but rest assure it’s quicker than a stock Polo GTI which runs the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 6.7 seconds before topping out at 148 mph (236 km/h).

ABT also has a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped around in 215/35 R18 tires along with a bunch of other goodies like a carbon-like rear attachment on the roof-mounted spoiler, a rear skirt set and a sticker set featuring a two-tone carbon look. More importantly, the Polo GTI can get the tuner's muffler set with two end pipes as well as custom suspension springs that lower the supermini by 25 mm on the front axle and 30 mm at the back. Interior cabin tweaks are limited to LED-door entrance lights with the ABT logo along with bespoke floor mats.

Lastly, ABT is also providing a power upgrade for the more docile 1.2 TSI from 110 PS (81 kW) & 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) to a healthy 140 PS (103 kW) & 220 Nm (162 lb-ft).
