Besides talking a little bit about their new CMA platform, Volvo is also detailing their plans for future plug-in hybrid models and a fully electric vehicle.
Volvo has already commenced the electrification process with the T8 Twin Engine offered on the second generation XC90 and earlier today they announced a T5 Twin Engine setup will be available on a new array of CMA-based compact models programmed to come out starting 2017. Now, the Swedish marque is telling us that all of its models will eventually receive a plug-in hybrid derivative. As a matter of fact, Volvo estimates that sales of electrified models will account for up to 10% in the medium term.
Besides teaming up a combustion engine with an electric motor for these new plug-in hybrids, Volvo has plans to introduce a pure electric model by 2019, with details concerning their first ever EV to be released at a later date.
