Scion has released an intriguing teaser of a brand new concept previewing a production model due for the 2017 model year.

Other details are not available at this point, but chances are this concept serves as a sneak preview of Scion's first ever crossover. It will be the third all-new model joining the Mazda2-based iA hatchback and the Toyota Auris-based iM sedan, but we don't know for sure which platform it will use. However, most likely it will have a lot in common with the Toyota C-HR concept which itself will get a production version next year.

The attached teaser image appears to show the center of the trunk lid and its shape does seem to resemble the Toyota C-HR concept. If that's the case, expect Scion's first ever crossover to ride on the newly developed TNGA platform that has also underpinned the new Prius.

Scion will stage the world premiere of the concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, with the production car arriving for the 2017 model year.
