Following last month's leak, Subaru has introduced a revised Forester for the Japanese domestic market (JDM).
The cosmetic changes are quite subtle, but Subaru says they widened the headlights, grille and front bumper while the rear combination lights now have a U-shaped theme. Fresh 17-inch alloy wheels as well as Dark Blue Pearl and Sepia Bronze Metallic body paints complete the exterior changes.
As for the interior, there are more metallic accents combined with a silver frame on the dashboard which now also boasts a piano black trim. There's also an upgraded color LCD multi-info display in the center of the instrument panel along with Siri Eyes Free support for the navigation and the Harman Kardon sound system.
Other changes worth mentioning include heated rear seats with low & high settings, memory function for the power driver's seat and the Eye Sight version 3 system with upgraded Active Lane Keep steering assistance system, Pre-Collision Braking Control and Adaptive Cruise Control. Subaru has revised the Advanced Safety Package which among others includes Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Adaptive Driving Beam while the full LED headlights are adaptive.
The engineers made some hardware tweaks by optimizing the chassis, steering-gear ratio, suspension and they also improved fuel efficiency for the naturally aspirated models whereas the turbo version now has auto-step shift control for the close-ratio 8-speed gearbox. Moreover, the cabin is now quieter thanks to the adoption of thicker door glass, stronger sealing and a more refined Lineartronic gearbox.
Subaru will exhibit the 2016 Forester in JDM specification at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end this month.
