Volkswagen has released new details about their plan to "correct the emissions characteristics" of models equipped with EA 189 diesel engines.

The company was coy on specifics but said owners of affected vehicles will be notified about the fix and will then have to take their vehicle into the dealership to receive an unspecified "service procedure."

That's not much to go on but Volkswagen said they will "present the technical solutions and measures to the responsible authorities in October."  The company went on to say they will keep customers informed about the process as events transpire.
