Ford is analyzing the prospects of coming out with ST and Vignale editions of the Kuga compact crossover.

In an interview with Auto Express, Ford of Europe's vice-president, sales, marketing and service Roelant de Waard said a Kuga ST represents a viable possibility taking into account the crossover segment is still increasing in popularity and many other automakers are already testing this growing market with plenty of derivatives, including higher performance variants.

He also said a Kuga Vignale makes sense since currently 70% of customers get either the top-spec Titanium or Titanium X version, so Ford would have a significant market for those willing to pay more for an upscale version of the Kuga.

Right now, the only Vignale-branded model in Ford's portfolio is the Mondeo, but it will soon be joined by the S-MAX and other models, with the Kuga being a very possible candidate to be pampered at the newly established Vignale Center in Valencia, Spain where all cars go through an extra 100 quality checks.
